Running watts describe sustained capacity. Starting watts cover the brief surge demanded by motors in refrigerators, pumps and air conditioners. Size from running loads, then confirm the largest startup surge fits.

Pick a fuel plan before a fuel type

Gasoline is widely available but degrades in storage. Propane stores longer. Natural gas can simplify long outages when a suitable connection exists. A dual- or tri-fuel model buys flexibility, though output normally changes by fuel.
